One week ago right now (yes, Saturday night in the USA), I was running the sydney_marathon. I’m still on such a high. I found an unbelievable amount of joy in this race, the support for runners of all paces, shapes, sizes and abilities, and the beauty and kindness of Aussies as a whole. The sights and sounds were incredible, and I want to share some of my favorites 👉🏼

The elevation map was absolutely not a joke. I really wish I could have grasped just how tough that first half would be. I’m excited to go back and run it again now that I know!

Seriously, I couldn’t wipe this smile off my face! Here’s some of my favorite moments I captured 👉🏼

Running over the Harbour Bridge, seeing fans and spectators taking the train, waving and showing off their signs 

Runners coming through about 9k into the race when we were between 3-4k on the overpass

Just after 10k in Barangaroo, swinging into The Rocks with the Harbour Bridge in view (and FLAT ROAD!!!)

The church bells ringing at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Hyde Park, when I hit ~14k and the 2:30-3:00 runners were about to head into Mrs. Macquarie‘s Chair, arguably the toughest point in the course

Catching up with mitchphillips_ at 29k, just outside Sydney Cricket Ground! 

The chuckle- allianzarena in Munich was put on our medals by accident instead of allianzstadium, which we pass on course. A lot of us runners have a good inside joke now with the silly mistake and it was fun seeing the stadium make a joke of it, too!

If you can’t sing on course, you are either too fast or you’re doing it wrong 🤪 Love the divas giving us a boost in the Pride section around 16k and back again around 37k 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🥳 

The finish line. Oh that finish line. What a boost, what a feeling. One of, if not the most beautiful finish line in running 🥹
