“What Will I Become?” will be screened and presented to potential distributors at the Filmkunstmesse Leipzig on September 15, 2026.

The documentary by Lexie Bean and Logan Rozos celebrated its world premiere in the Berlinale Generation programme earlier this year and went on to receive the Amnesty International Film Prize, as well as the Prize of AG Kino – Gilde – Cinema Vision 14plus.

“What Will I Become?” asks why members of the transmasculine community are particularly at risk of living short lives and dying in silence. The directors weave together the stories of two trans boys who died by suicide with those of their wider transmasculine+ community. In doing so, they offer resources and imagine pathways towards a more hopeful future.

“What Will I Become?” wird am 15. September 2026 auf der Filmkunstmesse Leipzig gezeigt und potenziellen Verleiher*innen präsentiert.

Der Dokumentarfilm von Lexie Bean und Logan Rozos feierte Anfang des Jahres auf der Berlinale seine Weltpremiere und wurde mit dem Amnesty International Filmpreis, sowie dem Preis der AG Kino – Gilde – Cinema Vision 14plus ausgezeichnet.

“What Will I Become?” fragt, warum Personen aus der transmaskulinen Community besonders gefährdet sind, ein kurzes Leben zu führen und still zu sterben. Die Regisseur*innen nehmen die Verletzlichkeit ihrer transmaskulinen Community in den Fokus und verflechten ihre persönlichen Erfahrungen mit den Geschichten zweier junger trans Männer, die durch Suizid starben. Zugeich hebt der Film Ressourcen hervor, die trans Jungen und die LGBTQIA2S+-Community bestärken, und vermittelt bewährte Praxis zur Suizidprävention.
