These photos tell the story of Moses and me. It's the story of how I became the mom of a clever, quirky, cuddle-crazed pup whose foster name was actually Snuggly because he melts when touched, who wraps his paw around me whenever I need (or he thinks I need) a hug, and who routinely sneaks cat food because he knows if he looks away in mock shame when I accuse him of eating it, I'll laugh and he'll get away with it. It's about my relationship with a total weirdo who verbalizes his hatred of any animal on TV (including animated ones) and who must sniff everything every time we go out as if it's brand new despite sniffing the same things 3+ times a day every single day. It's the tale of me and this derpy protector who believes I need to be personally escorted around my apartment, who physically barricades me from any presumed danger when I'm on the toilet, and who stepped between me and a random, belligerent creep on the street late one night and made a sound so ferocious that the guy ran. It's the story of me and this goodest of boys who smiles more in selfies because he's next to me when I take them, who is more in tune with my emotions than I am, and who loves me more purely and undeservingly than I even knew was possible before December 20, 2014.

Photos like these remind us of the tiny moments worth remembering. The moments that, while you’ve been worrying about your career, the laundry, who swiped right on you, or if that recruiter will ever follow up, suddenly hit you in the face when you put them together:
