Sony Pictures has hired Chris Bremner, the writer behind Bad Boys for Life and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, to write the script for a fifth film in the sci-fi franchise.⁠
⁠
Whether Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will return as Agents J and K remains unknown. Reports have suggested Smith would be among the first to receive the new script, with hopes he could reprise his role, but he has not been confirmed for the film.⁠
⁠
It would be the first Men in Black film since 2019's Men in Black: International, which starred Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Before that, Smith and Jones starred together in the original trilogy released between 1997 and 2012.⁠

The franchise has made more than $1.9 billion at the worldwide box office across its four films, although International brought in $253.9 million against a budget reported to be north of $100 million.⁠
