From catastrophic floods in Nepal to relentless wildfires and lethal heatwaves, communities on the front line are being asked to do more with less. Rescue teams face broken budgets and missing gear, while hospitals come under immense pressure.⁣
⁣
Meanwhile, the oil and gas corporations fuelling these disasters make tens of billions in profits.⁣
⁣
Praise and empty speeches will not fund rescue boats, emergency care, early-warning systems or the protection communities need.⁣
Make polluters pay. Taxing fossil fuel profits must fund emergency relief, resilient public services and adaptation — and help deliver a fast, fair phase-out of fossil fuels. Adaptation alone will not stop the crisis escalating.⁣
