Congratulations to Ila Giroux ’27 and Lily Beal ’27, who have been invited to join Team SW1FT — the reigning U.S. STEM Racing National Champions — to represent the United States at the Aramco STEM Racing World Finals in Singapore this fall! 🌍🇺🇸🏎️

Competing as SW1FT 2026 Worlds Team, they are among just three teams that earned a spot representing the United States at the World Finals out of the 50 teams that qualified for Nationals, making them among 83 teams from 30 countries worldwide to qualify. The six-member team is made up of students with specialized roles: Ila serves as Aerodynamics Engineer and Project Manager, while Lily manages enterprise and sustainability. Held the week before the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix, the World Finals lets teams walk the Grand Prix track and meet F1 drivers, engineers, and team management.

It’s truly a full-circle moment. The journey began last fall when Ila founded Spark Racing through our After-School Program’s Design Collective Club with Lily as Vice President and Enterprise Lead, and design teacher Mr. Coker serving as their advisor. In their first season, the team placed 3rd at Eastern Regionals and went on to earn a top 10 finish at Nationals, along with receiving the Best New Team award presented by Cadillac Formula 1. 🏆

STEM Racing (formerly F1 in Schools) is the world’s largest STEM competition for high school students, with approximately 1.8 million students participating worldwide each year. The competition challenges students to operate like a real Formula One team — designing and engineering a miniature race car, racing it, and developing a complete team identity, enterprise, and marketing strategy.

We could not be prouder of Ila and Lily as they take this incredible journey to Singapore and represent Dwight and the United States on the world stage. 🇺🇸🏎️🌏
