## Caption

When actor lievschreiber was joined by his wife tayloraschreiber in the Noho triplex he had owned since the 1990s, she had two requests: soften its man-cave edge and create an outdoor refuge reminiscent of her South Dakota upbringing.

As their family grew, they acquired an adjacent apartment and the home required structural amendments as well as aesthetic ones. Turning to designers arielashe and Reinaldo Leandro (reilean) of the #AD100 firm ashe_leandro and consulting architect Eric Sheffield (eric_sheffield_architect) to help refashion the square footage, the team leaned into the space's historic texture by exposing the brick walls, wood beams, and original ceiling structure. Now, a blackened-steel spiral staircase ascends to the roof garden, home to a lush landscape by brooklyngrange, and the family's small flock of egg-laying hens.
