We finally have a new AI video benchmark after the Will Smith spaghetti era.

That infamous AI-generated clip of Will Smith eating spaghetti became one of the internet's earliest benchmarks for seeing how far AI video had come. Now, it looks like there may be a new one.

GPT-6 Astra was tasked with recreating the Rickroll in Blender, and the result has that familiar early-AI feeling. It gets enough of the scene right that you immediately recognize what you're watching, while other details still look noticeably strange or fall apart.

What makes this especially interesting is how quickly the technology behind it can evolve.

AI video has gone from those famously bizarre clips in 2023 to increasingly cinematic footage in just a few years. Larger models, improved training data, stronger visual understanding, and better frame-to-frame consistency have pushed things forward incredibly fast.

Astra introduces another interesting layer. Rather than simply generating a finished video, it can interact with software such as Blender, examine its own work, continue making changes, and improve parts of the scene through multiple steps.

As computer use, planning, visual feedback, and long-running tasks continue to improve, demos like this could evolve very quickly too.

So yes, save this Rickroll.

Let's see how it looks in 2030. 👀
