Have never not heard a million people shouting, laughing, talking in Times Square before. 

To honor the victims of the September 11th, 2001 tragedy, New Yorkers gathered in Times Square for a moment of silence and observe all the ads going dark. 

New York City cabs even agreed to pause horn honking in the area.
