In our latest Featured Artist interview, we speak with John Wong, also known as “Nothing is Real,” about his multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, film, theatre, and artificial intelligence.

Working between physical and digital processes, John approaches AI as a collaborator within an expanded painterly practice. Through prompting, iteration, micro-editing, and “vibe coding,” he explores abstraction, uncertainty, identity, cultural memory, and the space between human intention and machine interpretation.

In the conversation, John reflects on his journey into AI, the influence of Eastern philosophy on his work, and why he believes AI will expand — rather than replace — the language of art.
