Things you should NEVER do when a customer is waiting at the dealership 👇

Here are 5 things you should probably avoid as a salesperson:

1. Disappear without saying anything

If you need to talk to your manager, grab keys, check on a vehicle, or get paperwork ready, just let the customer know. Even a quick “I’ll be back in a few minutes” is better than vanishing for 20 minutes.

2. Make them ask for updates

If something is taking longer than expected, tell them before they have to come looking for you. Most people are pretty understanding when they actually know what’s going on.

3. Start doing something completely unrelated

Probably not the best time to start checking your phone, chatting with coworkers, grabbing lunch, or getting distracted by something else while your customer is sitting there waiting 

4. Promise “it’ll only be 5 minutes” when you know it won’t

We’ve all heard the famous “just another 5 minutes.” If it’s realistically going to be 20, just say 20. Setting the right expectation is way better than resetting the clock every five minutes 😂

5. Forget they’re even there

This one should be obvious… but the second someone walks through those doors, their time matters too. Keep things moving, communicate, and don’t leave them wondering if you went home for the day.
