The Cathedral of Learning holds 100 years of memories. We asked for some of yours and received stories of wonder, love, and generations of Pitt pride. While these are just a few there are many more that can be read at the official Cathedral 100 webpage. #CL100

“While the sun dipped low, casting golden hues across the Cathedral’s towering façade, I immersed myself in Professor John Weidman’s research seminar on the sixth floor. My mind danced with ideas while my son and daughter chased a soccer ball on the field below, laughter and the sound of cleats echoing through the air.”

“My great grandfather donated to the construction of the German Nationality Room in the Cathedral of Learning. When I graduated from Pitt, my parents surprised me with the framed certificate from his donation. I have treasured this family connection to Pitt for all these years.”

“The Cathedral of Learning will always hold a quiet but powerful place in my story. In 2014, I walked into that building to take the PECT exam for my Pennsylvania certification in French. I remember the feeling so clearly—nervous, focused, but also deeply hopeful. It wasn’t just an exam for me. It was a moment that carried years of preparation, passion, and belief in the path I had chosen.”

“My dad always mentioned that when funds were being raised to build the Cathedral of Learning, you could purchase a brick. He bought one and always said that it was the brick that held up the entire building.”
