Old Glory had the ball for most of the day. It didn't matter.

California controlled this one from the opening try, building a 21-5 halftime lead behind a Corbin Smith brace and a flawless day off the tee from Coby Miln, who converted all six tries. DC actually finished with 58% possession — but California's defense held at an 80% tackle success rate and made sure none of it turned into points. Billy Meakes gained 112 metres up front, and captain Jason Damm led from the front on both sides of the ball.

Old Glory's response came too late to matter.
