Got laid off from my full-time gig in 2024. Sent my portfolio everywhere, everyone said it was good, nobody would hire me long-term. Just contract jobs here and there.

So I started posting. Figured it'd land me studio work.

Instead I landed brand deals. At this point, a lot of brand deals. Funny that it’s the thing that actually paid the bills was the thing I didn't plan for.

A few things I learned along the way:
	1.	Don't be afraid to go against the grain. Half this industry will tell you not to touch AI tools. I did anyway, it was genuinely cool tech and it paid. If you're not landing "prestige" work, that doesn't mean you're not building something real.
	2.	Don't shit on the grind. If someone's figuring out their own way to make it work, let them.
	3.	Don't quit. The plan doesn't have to work exactly how you pictured it for it to still work.
