Meguro has a new “upscale” tsukemen spot and I rolled my eyes so hard I almost pulled something.

Menya Shūgō Bettei Miyabi (麺屋 周郷 別邸 雅) is the polished successor to Shinbashi’s Shūgō, which means expectations are high and ramen nerds are breathing heavily somewhere.

I am not a tsukemen guy. Dipping noodles feels like doing extra steps for the same result. Just put it in the bowl. Why are we playing?

And yet.

The special tsukemen shows up looking calm. Too calm. The seafood + pork bone broth hits immediately — deep, rich, layered — but not in that aggressive “I reduced this for 17 hours so respect me” way. It’s strong without being heavy. Like it lifts.

The noodles? Thick. Chewy. Confident. I ate some without dipping because I don’t follow rules. Still excellent. That’s when I knew this wasn’t a gimmick bowl.

Pork slices: no shortcuts.
Egg: jammy. Glossy. Main character energy.

Then I ordered the makanai-gohan. What meat is that? Don’t know. Didn’t ask. Broke the yolk, mixed it in, achieved inner peace. Sometimes mystery is flavor.

The shop itself is clean, minimal, no neon signs telling you to subscribe to someone’s Patreon. Just people quietly making serious noodles.

Expect around ¥1,400–¥1700 per person depending on how greedy you feel.
