Over 140 orthopaedic surgeons came together for a day of rigorous discussion, hands-on learning and deeper conversations around robotic arthroplasty.

We asked the harder questions: Does robotics actually improve outcomes? What does the evidence tell us? How does technology influence surgical planning and decision-making? What is the learning curve for surgeons? How do different alignment approaches affect patients? And ultimately, when does technology truly make surgery better?

The scientific programme explored patient selection, implant design, pain management, mechanical versus kinematic alignment, real-time knee balancing, robotics evidence and registry data, surgical learning curves, complex and revision procedures, and the emerging role of AI in arthroplasty.

Importantly, this wasn’t only theoretical.

Surgeons experienced four leading robotic platforms — MAKO, CORI, ROSA and VELYS — gaining first-hand insight into how each approaches planning, tracking, balancing and surgical execution.

But one idea remained constant:

The robot is only as good as the surgeon behind it.

Technology does not replace clinical judgement, experience or skill. It adds a new layer of knowledge — real-time data, kinematics, tension mapping, planning and new workflows — to everything surgeons already know.
