Coming Soon: ‘Isamu Noguchi at Lever House’, New York

Although never realised, Isamu Noguchi’s Lever House project became a defining moment in the artist’s career. Working closely with architect Gordon Bunshaft (1909–90), Noguchi developed two proposals for the courtyard of New York’s first commercial office tower. The plans crystallised ideas that would occupy him for decades: sculpture as landscape, public space as a place for contemplation and play, and the integration of natural materials within modern architecture.

More than 70 years later, a new exhibition, opening this September, reunites Noguchi with Lever House, allowing visitors to reconsider this historic collaboration through related sculptures, models, drawings, and architectural ideas.

📍 The exhibition will be on view from 14 September 2026 – Summer 2027 at Lever House, New York.
