The strangest thing about the Casa Grande Domes was never the ghost stories. It was how they were built.

In 1982, electronics company InnerConn Technology announced plans for a manufacturing complex on 135 acres near Casa Grande.

The futuristic dome design was chosen because it was cheap, fast to build and better suited for Arizona heat.

And the construction method was insane.

Workers poured a foundation, inflated a massive reusable balloon over it, sprayed foam across the outside, covered that with concrete, then deflated and removed the balloon once the shell hardened.

Seven buildings were planned, including six long caterpillar-shaped domes and one flying-saucer-shaped structure.

Only four were completed.

InnerConn defaulted on its loan in 1983, the factory never opened, and the company dissolved a few years later.

The site sat abandoned for decades.

That’s when the stories took over.

People claimed there were cult rituals, strange voices, shadows and even portals inside the domes, although none of those stories were ever substantiated.

Ghost hunters, vandals and UFO enthusiasts kept visiting the property as the structures slowly deteriorated.

In 2016, Ghost Adventures filmed an episode there, bringing even more attention to the site.

Pinal County eventually condemned the domes, and demolition began in January 2023.

Forty years, four buildings, one office, and not a single circuit board ever produced there.
