No. 23 Missouri has taken control of the Border War once again.

For the first time in 21 years, Missouri traveled to Lawrence to face Kansas, renewing one of college football’s oldest and most bitter rivalries on the Jayhawks’ home field. 

Kansas delivered the first big moment of the night.

After already blocking one Missouri field goal attempt, the Jayhawks blocked another in the second quarter. Austin Alexander scooped it up and took it 88 yards for a touchdown, sending the home crowd into a frenzy and giving Kansas a 7–0 lead. 

Missouri responded immediately.

Jamal Roberts broke free for a 64-yard touchdown run, and after Kansas went back in front, Austin Simmons connected with Cayden Lee for a 27-yard touchdown with 30 seconds remaining to send the teams into halftime tied 14–14. 

Then the Tigers took over.

Robert Woodyard Jr. forced turnovers on back-to-back Kansas possessions, and Missouri turned both into touchdowns to quickly build a 28–14 advantage. Kansas cut the deficit to seven later in the third, but Missouri shut the Jayhawks out in the fourth quarter and pulled away. 

Missouri 38. Kansas 21.

Simmons finished with 292 passing yards and three touchdowns, Roberts rushed for 125 yards and a score, and Missouri outgained Kansas 469–255 while holding the Jayhawks to just 81 rushing yards. 

The victory moves Missouri to 2–0 and gives the Tigers their fifth consecutive win over Kansas. Missouri has now won both meetings since the rivalry finally returned last season following a 14-year hiatus. 

The Border War is officially back.

And for now, it still belongs to Mizzou.
