Why do golfers miss greens short so often? 🤔 Shot Scope’s analysis of 30 million shots found that 80% of amateur golfers’ missed greens came up short, not left or right. This common amateur golf mistake normally comes down to two things: club selection and strike quality. Golfers often calculate their iron distances using their best-ever strike. Carry a seven-iron 160 yards once and it suddenly becomes your “160-yard club”, even if your normal carry is closer to 150. That leaves no margin for an imperfect approach shot. A slightly heavy, thin or off-centre strike costs distance, meaning the chosen club only reaches the flag when everything goes perfectly. Golf course management makes this even more important. Shot Scope found that 72% of the danger around greens, such as bunkers and water, is positioned at the front, compared with 28% behind. The most common miss is therefore also the one courses punish most heavily. That’s why Tiger Woods described finishing pin-high as “the key to golf”. Learn your real carry distances, improve your strike and select a club for your normal shot - not your perfect one. Would taking one extra club improve your scores, or simply move your trouble beyond the green? #golfmanual #golf_manual #golftips #golfstrategy #approachshots
