A land record from 1724 broke through a wall Joanna had been stuck at for a decade.
 
 “I have been researching my Czech ancestors for about a decade...One direct line came from Jaromerice nad Rokytnou [in the Czech Republic], and ended with a certain ancestor born about 1700...I had not been able to discover his parents.
 
 “I recently revisited the family line, and discovered that the Jaromerice land records had been added to FamilySearch...I spent a couple of days sorting through the books trying to figure out what may be helpful, and found some relevant information, but not what I needed to take my research further. 
 
“I ... prayed earnestly that this door would open. I felt so strongly that the answers were there, and that I would find them. 
 
“That evening, I sat down to look at the books...I knew that my immigrating ancestor, Jan Svoboda, was born in Jaromerice, as was his father, Ondrej, and that his grandfather had died there. His grandfather, Frantisek Svoboda, was the one upon whom I needed more information. 
 
“I discovered a clear and concise record of the land passing to Frantisek from his father, Jakub Svoboda,... in 1724, and to Jakub from his father, Jindrich, in 1711...The record also clearly tracks the passing of the property from Frantisek Svoboda to his son, Ondrej, linking directly to my known family tree. 
 
“This record connected three generations in [the] Tree…I am so grateful that these records are in FamilySearch.” —Joanna Sedgwick
