𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗟𝗦 (originally titled Young Sentinels and renamed midway through its only season) is a Saturday morning animated series produced by Filmation which debuted on the American NBC network on September 10, 1977, and ran for thirteen half-hour episodes.

The science fiction action series follows a superhero team during missions to protect the Earth.

𝗙𝗨𝗡 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧: The female character ASTREA was the first black female animated superhero on American Television. BLACK VULCAN appearing in THE SUPER FRIENDS debuted on the same day. He is the first black male animated superhero on American television. 

Technically VERB, the novelty superhero from SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK, which debuted earlier, could be considered the first black male superhero if you cite a novelty character as opposed to a standard superhero character.
