Tyler Owens is the definition of FINISH THE PLAY

This clip from Washington’s Week 1 battle with Philly tells you everything about the way this dude plays. The play looks like it should be over, Eagles are surrounding him, bodies everywhere… and Owens just keeps fighting through contact like somebody forgot to tell him to stop. Even Bleacher Report singled the moment out as Owens pushing through multiple Eagles players.

And the “relentless” label isn’t new. Owens entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech in 2024, then fought his way onto Washington’s roster largely because of his rare combination of size, speed and physicality. He’s 6’2”, 213 pounds, and through his first two seasons appeared in 29 games for the Commanders.

Washington even ran a feature on him during his rookie camp titled “relentless effort,” with Owens saying his mentality was to keep pushing himself and finding ways to improve. Two years later, he’s still making clips that perfectly explain why coaches kept him around.

The Commanders ultimately lost this one 24-22, but football coaches LOVE guys who play every rep like this. No whistle? Keep going. Think the play is dead? Keep going. Three dudes trying to stop you? Apparently keep going anyway. 😂

You can’t coach this kind of motor.

Would you want Tyler Owens on your defense? 👀👇
