WHAT A WAY TO START THE NFL SEASON

The Seahawks just pulled off a 13-10 comeback win over the Patriots in a game where almost everything seemed to be going against them early. Sam Darnold went down with a hip injury on Seattle’s opening drive, Drew Lock had to come in cold, and New England eventually built a 10-0 lead. 

Then Seattle completely flipped the game.

Drew Lock finished 16/22 for 187 yards, 1 TD and ZERO interceptions, while Jaxon Smith-Njigba reminded everyone why he’s one of the best receivers in football: 8 catches, 122 yards and the game-tying 45-yard TD in the fourth quarter. Seattle finished with 285 total yards on only 48 plays, averaging 5.9 yards per play, and most importantly committed ZERO turnovers.

New England had every opportunity to put this one away. Drake Maye finished 23/33 for 178 yards and a touchdown, but his three interceptions completely changed the game. Even after losing A.J. Brown to an ankle injury in the third quarter, the Patriots still drove all the way to Seattle’s 16 with under 30 seconds left and a chance to win it. 

Then Josh Jobe picked Maye off in the end zone with 26 seconds remaining. Ballgame.

Seattle lost its starting QB five snaps into the season, trailed 10-0, committed 10 penalties for 98 yards… and STILL found a way to win.
 
That’s what defending champions do. And Drew Lock deserves his flowers tonight.
