What an absolutely BRUTAL way to start the NFL season. 😭

Sam Darnold’s night lasted just five offensive snaps before a sack from former Seahawk Dre’Mont Jones left him with a hip injury. He initially walked off under his own power, but Seattle eventually ruled him out and turned the offense over to Drew Lock. Darnold finished 1/2 for 13 yards before leaving. 

Then New England got hit with its own nightmare.

A.J. Brown injured his right ankle in the third quarter of his Patriots debut when Seattle DB Nehemiah Pritchett landed on his lower leg while breaking up a pass. Brown went to the medical tent, underwent X-rays and was eventually ruled out after recording 3 catches for 26 yards on 4 targets. 

That’s your defending Super Bowl champion QB AND New England’s massive offseason WR addition both knocked out of the season opener.

You wait the entire offseason for football to come back and then get reminded immediately how unforgiving this sport can be.

Hopefully both injuries end up being minor because the league is a whole lot better with these two on the field. 🙏
