Meet Texas muralist Gabriel Portillo and discover the story behind his Coca-Cola Paint the Nation with America250 mural in Madisonville, Texas. America250 is the national nonpartisan initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, celebrating the people, places and stories that have shaped America.

For Coca-Cola’s Paint the Nation campaign, Austin-based artist Gabriel Portillo draws on his West Texas roots to create a bold mural inspired by Texas heritage, Western culture and small-town life. Blending nostalgic imagery with bright Coca-Cola colors, the Madisonville mural features cowboys at its center as symbols of optimism, possibility and always looking forward.

For Gabriel, the mural is also a tribute to home—a reminder to remember where you come from while looking toward what’s ahead.
