Florida State’s defense was able to get some pressure on quarterback Kevin Jennings in their loss, but the problem was the defensive backs had major communication breakdowns, where there were blown coverages that allowed chunk yardage gains of 79, 64, 50, 30, and 29.

The Crimson Tide’s offensive line allowed Russell to get sacked four times against Kentucky this past Saturday. The signal-caller hasn’t been anything special for Alabama so far in 2026, where he has recorded 444 passing yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. It all starts with playing aggressive in man-to-man coverage looks and not making easier throwing windows for a talented, but inconsistent, pass catcher Ryan Williams to gain confidence in his abilities to make the Florida State defense look silly. Alabama wants to prove a point this year by running the football after being one of the worst rushing offenses in the country in 2025.
