Reynisfjara Beach, named for the Viking  Reynir, who legend says settled here first, and honestly the place feels just as mythical. Those basalt columns aren’t carved, they’re cooled lava that cracked into perfect six-sided towers over thousands of years, and standing next to them is unreal. Add jet black sand under your boots and sea stacks offshore that legend says were trolls frozen by sunrise, and there’s a strange calm to standing somewhere that stark and that beautiful at the same time.
