When my two worlds collide… politics and sports. But this conversation was about something far greater Hurricane Katrina and the people forever changed by it.

Tomorrow, August 29, marks 21 years since Katrina. Madam Mayor Helena Moreno recently joined Tyrann Mathieu and Tyrell McCall on In The Bayou to share their personal experiences of loss, displacement, survival and rebuilding. Katrina was never just a storm. It separated families, erased homes, disrupted childhoods and left wounds many New Orleanians still carry quietly. Yet from that devastation came a resilience only our people truly understand. There is power in hearing these stories from those who lived them to honor those we lost, remember what our communities endured and ensure the lessons are never forgotten.
