Gardening is Joy!

At Stratton School in Stratton, ME, 15 garden beds are bursting with a wide variety of vegetables, including kale, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, and more. Throughout the year, students dedicate themselves to planting, growing, and harvesting the garden. Their hard work is celebrated every year at the highly anticipated Fall Festival, where their garden takes center stage.

Program Director Katie has developed the successful garden and nutrition program using KidsGardening’s resources. The original books, activities, and lesson plans turn hands-on activities into engaging lessons.

While KidsGardening’s resources have helped develop the garden program’s curriculum, Katie believes the true heart of the program is the students. Each year, she sees her students' enthusiasm and engagement increase, helping the garden program grow. In the garden beds, growing dome, and orchard, learning is a fun experience that students look forward to daily.
