intertwined with light and brick,
waiting for the stairs 
to slip into the wind
and brew ice for the leaves on the ground,
memories and signs come flooding back—
of dark corners and 
streets stumbled upon;
of gentle smiles, long forgotten—
fleeting, chance encounters, yet trivial.

As I walk,
without direction or tally,
without goals or hopes,
with music playing in the background,
with my shadow leading the way...
waiting for the curtain to rise...
I understand little—
almost nothing—
I reach out my hands and feel.
I simply feel."
