What happens after the mission ends?

Military service can shape identity, purpose, and lifelong relationships—but returning home often brings challenges that are less visible than physical injuries. In this conversation, veterans, clinicians, and advocates explore what it takes to successfully transition from military service to civilian life.

Moderated by former Navy SEAL officer Kaj Larsen, the panel features ABC News correspondent and Bob Woodruff Foundation co-founder Bob Woodruff, Navy veteran and Blue Magnet CEO Cedric Williams, and Victoria Jonas, PhD, a clinical psychologist at NYU Langone Health's Military Family Clinic.

Drawing on her clinical experience caring for veterans, Dr. Jonas explains how trauma can affect identity, relationships, and reintegration after service. She discusses why evidence-based therapies, peer support, and community are central to recovery, and highlights emerging advances in PTSD treatment that are expanding options for veterans seeking care.

The conversation also explores the importance of reducing stigma around mental health, creating pathways to meaningful employment, and ensuring veterans have continued access to care and purpose long after their military service ends. Together, the panel shares practical insights into how healthcare systems, employers, families, and communities can better support veterans throughout their transition home.

Watch the full conversation to learn how compassionate, evidence-based care and strong community connections can help veterans heal, thrive, and continue their mission beyond military service.
