MIT physicist Max Tegmark has warned that the race to develop increasingly powerful artificial intelligence is moving faster than efforts to make the technology safe.⁣

Speaking at the Web Summit in Lisbon, Tegmark said researchers are working toward Artificial General Intelligence and potentially Superintelligence — systems that could learn, adapt and act with far greater independence than today’s AI tools.⁣
