Hollywood Smothers is EXACTLY why Texas went all-in on the transfer portal. 🤑🤘 Texas aggressively OUTBID Alabama for the No. 1 RB in the portal this offseason because they knew the run game was their biggest problem. And tonight against No. 1 Ohio State, that Texas oil money PAID OFF. When Arch Manning was struggling early, Smothers gave Texas something to fall back on. He finished with 71 rushing yards & 2 TDs, accounting for more than HALF of Texas’ 141 rushing yards and keeping them ALIVE in a game where they were down 21 in the 4th quarter. Then once Arch got comfortable, that run game helped open everything up. And this is the difference between Texas & Oklahoma right now. Texas identified a problem, spent the money to FIX IT & got the exact type of RB they needed. Oklahoma still has major questions at RB after not making that same investment.
