If you glance up to the East Building’s Roof Terrace, you’ll catch a glimpse of “Hahn/Cock,” a 15-foot cobalt blue rooster sculpture by Katharina Fritsch, peering down to the DC streets below. The artwork was first unveiled in London’s Trafalgar Square, where it stood in cheeky contrast to old statues of aggrandized men on horseback. The woman-made monument is iconic, not only for its boldness and beauty, but also for its playful punchline. 😉

Artist Jessie Lamworth (jamworth) created a wearable ode to “Hahn/Cock” using hundreds of cobalt blue feathers, and wore it next to the sculpture itself for an unexpected impromptu runway show at the museum.

“Making and then getting to wear this over-the-top dress felt like the embodiment of ‘Hahn/Cock’: the balance of eye-catching beauty and satire.” #OpenCall
