Yamaha R1 x R1M.

Both share the same 998cc crossplane inline-four firing at 90-270-180-90 degree intervals — the architecture borrowed directly from the YZR-M1 MotoGP platform that gives the R1 family a throttle character and engine feel no other production inline-four replicates. The R1 makes the case for everything a road superbike should be. 

The R1M makes the case for everything it could be without the constraints of a production budget. Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension that adjusts damping in real time across every phase of riding. Full carbon fibre bodywork including MotoGP derived winglets validated through simulator testing. A data logging system pulled directly from World Superbike.
