The R7 arrived in 2021 as Yamaha's answer to a middleweight supersport segment that had been quietly disappearing — a 689cc parallel-twin producing 73 horsepower in a chassis derived directly from the MT-07 platform, tuned for the kind of riding that litre-class machines make unnecessarily complicated. It is not the most powerful motorcycle in its class. It is one of the most honest — a bike that communicates everything happening beneath the rider without filtering or softening the experience into something more manageable.
