Michael Dunlop paid tribute to Joey Dunlop at the Isle of Man TT

Following the Senior TT red flag, Michael completed a tribute lap aboard a replica of the Honda SP1 on which Joey famously won the Formula 1 TT race in 2000 — complete with Joey's iconic yellow helmet, matching boots, and leathers. At the start line, John McGuinness — Joey's teammate that day in 2000 — said it felt as if the real Joey was rolling to the line. Michael built the replica himself, spending countless hours ensuring every detail was immaculate — a machine that went on display in the Joey Dunlop pop-up museum before finding its true purpose on the Mountain Course.  Twenty six years after Joey's final and most extraordinary TT hat-trick — won just weeks before his tragic death in Estonia — his nephew, now the most successful TT rider in history, brought him back to the roads that made him immortal. Some moments transcend motorsport entirely. This was one of them.
