Game 20 of the inaugural MaxPreps Flag Football Showdown that is being held Sept. 11-12 in San Diego, Calif., featuring 18 of the nation's top high school girls teams from multiple states.

Fresh off its first Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship, McClatchy (Sacramento, Calif.) enters the inaugural MaxPreps Flag Football Showdown on Sept. 11-12 determined to prove it belongs among the state's elite. Head coach John Avery guided the Lions to a 24-5 record, Metro League title and section crown last fall.  Sophomore London Lee emerged as one of the state's brightest young stars after totaling 2,245 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns while adding 71 flag pulls and 18 interceptions on defense. Senior Savanna Hill is one of California's premier two-way players, finishing with more than 2,400 yards from scrimmage, 40 total touchdowns, 144 flag pulls and 74 sacks.

Armed with one of San Diego County's most dynamic quarterback-receiver combinations, San Marcos (Calif.) enters the inaugural MaxPreps Flag Football Showdown next week looking to break through against a national-caliber field.  Junior quarterback Finlee Hovis returns after accounting for 61 total touchdowns, throwing for 2,908 yards and 51 scores while adding 781 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Junior Miyah Holmes headlines a talented supporting cast after compiling 1,744 yards from scrimmage, 32 total touchdowns and a team-high nine interceptions.

MaxPreps and iFlag are partnering to launch the two-part national invitational tournament designed to establish the first rankings-backed, media-scaled championship stage for high school flag football. The September tournament will take place at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista with a second East Coast event planned for Spring 2027.
