This whole situation with Ed Sheeran and Macklemore clearly shows us, once again, that not choosing a side, that fence-sitting, that choosing not to get “too political” is still is a political decision, it still is choosing a side.

For years, Hozier has used his platform to speak about the things that matter beyond music — human rights, civil rights, inequality, war, and, consistently, Palestine.

He has stood on stages around the world and encouraged people to use their free speech, their purchasing power and, above all, their democratic voices to demand peace, safety and a meaningful and lasting ceasefire.

What makes these words so important is not simply that they come from a public figure. It’s that they remind us that having a platform also comes with an opportunity to use it for something bigger than ourselves.

Our voices may feel small, but collectively they are not. We can speak. We can ask questions. We can contact our representatives. We can protest. We can demand that the suffering of innocent people is not ignored or reduced to political talking points.

And we can do it from a place of empathy — standing for Palestinian freedom and self-determination while rejecting antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism and hatred in all its forms.

Thank you macklemore for reminding us to use our voice, to speak up for peace, to speak up for a ceasefire.

To speak up for a FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸
