Our On-Site athletes have tested this every two weeks for years. New research suggests they may help us detect UCL injury risk.

Dr. Nick talked about a recent study on the baseballamerica podcast that found that pitchers who produced less force and power during a countermovement jump were more likely to undergo UCL reconstruction. In other words, what happens on a force plate may tell us something about what could happen to an athlete's arm down the road.

Why? Because pitching is a full-body movement. When an athlete can't create or transfer enough force through the ground, the arm is often forced to make up the difference.

That's one of the reasons every on-site athlete at VeloU completes force plate testing every two weeks. It helps us monitor more than performance. It helps us identify trends, track readiness, and make more informed decisions about training.

The goal isn't to predict injuries with certainty. It's to give athletes and coaches better information before problems show up.
