There’s no one-to-one method for comparing players from different eras. We can scrutinize the stats, obsess over the highlights, or chase whatever next-best method comes to mind, but the conclusion will always be imperfect.

The results change from person to person, and we acknowledge that. Still, some conversations are simply too interesting not to have.

Shaquille O’Neal is easily one of the most dominant players of all time, using his body in a way that practically guaranteed two points every time down the floor. And he had the strength and agility on the other end to become an interior stopper who could halt a game in its tracks.
