Most founders quit recruiting right when it starts working.

Here's the math nobody tells you: filling one commission-based sales seat conservatively takes 100 applications. Not because your job post is bad. Because that's how the funnel actually works.

Out of 100 applicants, 80% get cycled out immediately — wrong fit, no response, disqualified. Of the 20 left, maybe 2 verbally commit to moving forward. Of those 2, only 1 actually shows up to onboarding on day one.

Founders see 15 applications trickle in, feel discouraged, and either lower their standards or stop recruiting altogether. But 15 applications was never enough to judge the process. You were never inside the numbers that produce a hire.

This week, before you post another job ad, decide how many applications you actually need — probably closer to 80-100 — before you evaluate whether recruiting is "working."
