Your recruiting process is a sales process. Most founders just don't run it like one.

Every stage costs you candidates: generate applicants, present the opportunity, screen for fit, schedule the interview, close them into the role. Skip a stage or drag your feet on any of them and your best people simply disappear.

Here's what most business owners get wrong. They treat the gap between "they showed interest" and "we interviewed them" as no big deal. It's a massive deal. A strong candidate who applies today is talking to other opportunities today too.

The fix isn't more applicants. It's speed once you have them. Anyone who makes it through screening should be booked for a one-on-one interview within 1 to 2 business days — not "sometime next week."

This week, pull your last 10 candidates and time how long it took from screening to interview. If it's longer than 2 business days, that's where you're losing people.
