That punchy, flash-lit 2000s digicam look is trending everywhere right now — and instead of buying an old point-and-shoot on eBay, you can recreate the whole aesthetic in Photoshop and Camera Raw. This tutorial covers the contrast, color, texture, and vignette settings that build the look, a masking trick to fake an on-camera flash while protecting your highlights, and a duplicated blur layer that makes the light glow right off the skin.

CHAPTERS
0:00 Recreating the 2000s Digicam Look
1:36 Boosting Contrast in Camera Raw
2:10 Shifting White Balance Cooler
3:05 Adding Texture, Clarity, and Grain
5:23 Color Grading Shadows and Highlights
6:48 Adding a Vignette for a Bright Center
8:07 Masking a Fake On-Camera Flash
11:39 Saving Your Edit as a Preset
14:36 Duplicating and Blurring for Glow
17:35 Dialing In Effect Opacity

THE STEPS
1. Convert your background layer to a Smart Object and open Camera Raw
2. Boost contrast, then cool down temperature and tint for that flash white balance
3. Add texture, clarity, and grain for a crunchy, film-like finish
4. Color grade cool shadows against warm highlights to protect skin tones
5. Add a vignette to keep the edges dark and the center bright
6. Mask a radial gradient exposure boost, then subtract highlights with Luminance Range to fake an on-camera flash
7. Save your exact settings as a reusable Camera Raw preset
8. Duplicate the layer, switch it to Lighten, and add a Gaussian Blur for a glowing highlight
9. Fine-tune the whole effect's strength with the Camera Raw filter's opacity slider
