Build a completely non-destructive slice effect in Photoshop using nothing but the classic Step and Repeat shortcut — no AI, no generative credits required. THE STEPS
1. Convert your background layer to a regular layer, then duplicate it
2. Draw a single vertical bar with the Rectangular Marquee tool and fill it white on a new layer
3. Use Step (Option/Alt+Cmd/Ctrl+T) then Repeat (Shift+Option/Alt+Cmd/Ctrl+T) to multiply the bar across the image
4. Cmd/Ctrl-click the bars layer to load it as a selection, then apply it as a layer mask on your duplicated photo layer
5. Use the Move tool with Shift held to slide the masked layer left and right
6. Unlink the layer and mask to switch between a repeating look and a sliding-behind look
7. Repeat the technique with thicker or thinner bars for a completely different feel
