## Caption

The United States scrambled fighter jets to intercept an unresponsive plane as it flew over Washington D.C. and later crashed into the mountains of Virginia, officials said. The F-16 jets caused a loud sonic boom that was heard around the region, prompting concern from some residents.
 
Four people were onboard the Cessna, a source familiar with the matter said. 
No survivors were found at the crash site, Virginia state police said.
