He went looking for a wizard. He found Brainiac instead.

Teth-Adam begins as a child from Kahndaq, captured and forced into slavery in ancient Egypt. After losing his family and trying to protect an older enslaved man, he becomes convinced that a prophecy points to a savior who can free his people.

But the journey leads him to a Brainiac scout ship—not a wizard. Brainiac sees the boy’s anger and determination, exposes him to a Father Box, and transforms him into King Shazam. Power follows, but so do betrayal, entombment, and centuries of imprisonment.

Then the sarcophagus reaches Lazarus Corp in Metropolis—and King Shazam breaks free just as Superman arrives.
