Social media has become an essential part of how we experience motorsport today. And behind all of that content is a team that makes it happen 💜

From planning what to post to creating content and keeping an eye on how fans respond, there’s a lot that goes into running a motorsport team’s social media.

Social media managers and executives are the people involved in planning content, writing copy, creating posts, managing the community and looking at analytics. During race weekends, there is content to capture in the paddock, driver content to organise, live updates to put out and plenty of moments that need quick reactions.

A good social media executive needs creativity, platform knowledge, strong communication skills and sound judgement to know when a moment is worth jumping on. But it’s not all about creating content, they also need to understand the analytics behind an account. Turning those insights into better content and stronger engagement is also a vital part of their role 👩‍💻

There isn't one set path into these jobs, either. A background in communications, journalism, linguistics, psychology, and countless other subjects can lead you there.

So the next time you see a post from your favourite team, remember there’s usually a whole lot happening behind it!
