NEVER FORGET. 25 years ago to the day, I found myself rocked out of my seat, barely a mile away from the Pentagon, after only after having heard about the startling news the towers had been hit.

Let's backtrack a minute, I worked at the time in Crystal City VA for the DOD, but that's a story for another day. My work buddy at the time phoned me from a NOC center in MN. He goes "TURN ON THE F'N NEWS!" to which I run to the conference center to see it unfold real-time. Smoldering amidst a sunny sky.

Floored by what I've seen, I turn pale because it hadn't been even a week since I flew outta IAD on a long haul flight. I walk back to my desk unable to comprehend it all when not even a half hour had past, a jarring tremor I hadn't felt since the WTC bombing of '93. (Well this one knocked me outta my chair) As we all know today, that was American 77. I'm thinking to myself, sh*ts hitting the fan fast, I gotta gOooo. I excused myself hopped in my car, and zipped back home at best possible speed, job be damned.

As I'm watching this thing unfold on my tv, soooo surreal. I phone my folks. Busy. busy again. Can't get through. I'm trying frantically, about to throw the phone through the floor. At one point, I considered making the long drive back to the city (4hrs) to check on them. That would prove to be an awful idea. Eventually, my work buddy connects me since he's still on-call at the NOC center, to find out they're ok.

To everyone out there with a 9/11 story, we all have one and it lives with us. The world may have moved on, but will we?
